Range and Outdoor Facility Solutions
Golf course superintendents, owners and managers flooded the Range and Outdoor Facility Solutions Center to discover innovative ways to increase annual revenue through non-traditional sources. Attendees learned how to integrate club fitting, along with the sale of beginner equipment and used equipment into their everyday operations. The First Tee showcased its SNAG program for beginning golfers. SNAG (Starting New at Golf) uses specially designed equipment that is developmentally appropriate and a safe system of clubs, balls and targets designed to permit teaching at any age. The Professional Clubmakers’ Society helped attendees realize the value of club fitting and the potential of turning the putting green and driving range into profit centers through equipment sales. Trading in used golf clubs was the focus of the PGA Trade-In Network. This internet based tool, helps golfers look up the fair market value of their used clubs and puts them in touch with an authorized trade-in facility.
Equipment manufacturers Srixon, Zelocity , IST, AccuSport, and Power Plate demonstrated new club, range ball, and simulator technology. Attendees also enjoyed honing their short game on the indoor and outdoor putting greens, provided by Golf Greens “Fore” U.
Capture The Flag Golf™, benefiting Special Olympics(R) state programs, presented in partnership with CMAA, was a virtual closest-to-the-flag contest designed to enhance awareness for Special Olympics state programs.Attendees were given a chance to win two badges to the 2008 Masters Tournament® Wednesday practice round and the opportunity to contribute to Special Olympics Florida with each swing. Alex Tekulsky, the first assistant superintendent from East Hampton Golf Club in New York, not only won the two badges but will also have a donation made, in his name, to Special Olympics Florida for $500 and will receive $500 in spending money for his trip this April courtesy of CMAA.
